MY CHANGE STORY

I am D Pushpa, B.T.Assistant at Panchayat Union Middle School, Bettatti, Coonoor, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu.

 I have already participated in the British Council Master Trainer program in the year 2009 at Karunya college and Jeeva Jyoti Ashram, Kovai. Dr. Ratnam Gopinath, Dr. Prakash, Miss. Anamika and Mrs. Deepali Dharmaraj are the best mentors who motivated, guided, and appreciated me in the initial stage.

 Activities which they had provided are very much useful for me to improve the communication skill. Activities like throwing the ball, queen of Sheeba, fruit salad, onion ring activity, Jig jaw reading, running dictionary, word Bingo, rhyming tennis, and songs attracted our students. Through this, I can minimize TTT, give simple and clear instructions. Thus it created situations to think in English.

 I was studied in Tamil medium school and did my degrees in the corresponding course. I felt shy to communicate in English. There was somewhat fear that struck me. But due to British Council training, I overcome all these difficulties and gain confidence in speaking. While cascading to our block teachers my co-trainers Thinesh, Gayatri and Bobby provided ample opportunities to present myself well.

Resource Person for Spoken English training ( upper primary teachers)

 In 2013 British Council training for upper primary teachers pave the way for me to be a resource person to Kindle my knowledge in English.

New textbook reinforcement training at DIET

 I have cascaded the same in schools. Now our children feel free to communicate in English. We also presented an hour video on speed speakers of Bettatti.

 Thank you very much for a given me the Master Trainer Certificate that gave me an address to communicate with co-teachers in English and also molded me to be an English teacher.
