Pandemic is the situation to be isolated from schools not from educational activities

I have created a WhatsApp group on 23 July 2019, which is helping us to spread awareness among our students from the very start of the Covid 19 pandemic. The students, alumni, parents, SMC members, educationalists, and well-wishers of the school communicated through various aspects to bring awareness among all.

Disappointingly, there were only four parents who possessed smartphones. Therefore, we encouraged our students to engage in other drawing competitions to bring out participations and out of which four students successfully participated. (Dated 22nd March 2020)

On 4 June 2020, I shared the PDF form of books to get ready for the academic year and advised them to indulge in writing a page of handwriting regularly. Accordingly, I even wrote a self-written page for motivation and shared it with the group so that the students could follow them with ease. Proudly, two of the students have updated their handwriting skills until now.

From 15 July 2020, we instructed our students to watch Kalvi TV by providing them the schedule. I visited students' homes as a part of the monitoring activity.

We started enrolling new students on 17 August 2020.

I contributed more than 20 videos about phonic drills, handwritings, and songs to the Tamil Nadu Teachers Platform. I shared those with our students.

I was not aware of uploading videos on YouTube until June 2020. I thought of uploading videos for students so that they could download them at any time and learn from anywhere. As of now, I have uploaded more than 75 videos for the well-being of students.

Writer Anuthama Srinivasan paved the way to conduct a virtual competition by providing pdf Athichudi. We encouraged our students to participate day by day through phone calls that made students participate enthusiastically. They gave updates through their voice record regularly. Students who performed well even received prizes on Bharathiyar's Birthday at the school. The writer appreciated our students by sending those prizes through posts.

Education must reach all students. However, it is now only for those who possess smartphones. So, I thought of doing things effectively. It is not possible to provide content-oriented normal classrooms. Therefore, to improve four basic skills of language, I am regularly conducting classes from 1 December 2020. At present, 35 out of the 41 students are active in the groups. I give moral stories for listening skills, which are being carried out even to this date. Children would always communicate with me in English immediately. They now read paragraphs from books, record their audio and share them in the group. Finally, they are writing a self-written page and send the photocopy as soon as possible. We give feedback regularly.

Certain area students face issues with the internet and hence find it difficult to download videos. Therefore, I joined hands with the online radio program team that made our students hear the teachings of other school teachers. Also, I am contributing to Spoken English in bringing welfare to all students across Tamil Nadu. Just by clicking the link they can listen and do without the unwanted issues.

I am happy that we are engaged with our students even in the Pandemic through the online mood. Our success story is documented by Samagara Shiksha, Tamilnadu to upload in Shahun Portal.
